چکیده
Work is frequently on the minds of employees—even during evenings, weekends, and vacations. The present study first comprehensive meta-analysis off-job work-related thoughts (WRTs; i.e., employees have about work when they are not at work). We were particularly interested in comparing positive negative (PWRTs NWRTs; positive/negative experiences or characteristics) to each other WRT constructs, which we integrated into a typology. coded 520 effect sizes from 171 independent samples (N = 58,682) conducted random-effects, individual-correction meta-analysis. found that PWRTs NWRTs unrelated, psychological detachment was negatively related but unrelated PWRTs. Furthermore, exhibited significantly different relationships with various antecedents (e.g., age, affectivity) outcomes engagement, burnout). Compared NWRTs, problem-solving pondering generally weaker outcomes. contaminated affective strains (i.e., feelings) stronger Overall, our meta-analytic findings indicate underscore importance empirically conceptually separating constructs. also complement nascent literature interventions target promoting reducing NWRTs.
